The "Grosser Arber"

Known as the king of the Bavarian Forest, the „Grosser Arber“, with its 1456 meters, overtops the whole Bavarian Forest and the Bavarian-Bohemian border mountain range . It is also rated very high because of its nature. The dense coexistence of great natural phenomena makes the “ArberLand“ an estate of inestimable value.

The Rißloch waterfalls, different swamps, the ice-age lakes with their steeply descending lake walls and the primeval forest give this elemental area its distinctive character.
Not least, the woodless summit is a specialty itself. Its flora and fauna are not to be found somewhere else in the whole Bavarian border mountain range. Great parts of this area have been put under protection already in 1939, to preserve their uniqueness.
