Hotel becomes school for life
Trainee Academy of the Premium Partners Bavarian Forest
The joy of reunion was great: No less than 47 apprentices were received by ULRICHSHOF Junior Chef and DEHOGA Bavaria Apprenticeship Ambassador Nikolaus Brandl at the second event of the Apprenticeship Academy of the Premium Partners Bavarian Forest. From Cham, Straubing and even from Wegscheid, 1st year apprentices had come to the family hotel in Zettisch. “In addition to the classic training, it is important to us that the young people network and continue their education together,” says Nikolaus Brandl. Together with the young hoteliers Dominik Reischl, Michael Ritzinger and Andreas Brunner jun. the trainee academy was therefore introduced in the middle of last year. Here, the current 130 apprentices of the premium partners – a cooperation project of Ostbayern Tourismusmarketing GmbH – are to receive an additional qualification with four dates per apprenticeship year. “This includes very practical solutions that are intended to have an essential supplement to the standard training,” explains Nikolaus Brandl.
"I was inspired to find my common thread in life and believe in myself."

The induction event took place in Pullman City in October 2022, where the apprentices could already get to know each other. “I’m looking forward to finally seeing the others again and hope for a successful day with lots of fun,” says Elena. Moritz hopes, in addition to having fun with the others, “to get valuable information for his future.” Luca also wants to be able to take something with him for life. The wishes are no coincidence, after all, the day’s programme included the Raidho Business Team Training “School for Life”.
Michaela Lankes, member of the management of the ULRICHSHOF, developed a team training with horses especially for this purpose. “I want to support the young people in further developing their emotional intelligence and at the same time strengthen their resilience so that they can deal with difficult everyday situations more easily,” she explains her approach. “My task today is to create maximum motivation and maximum awareness, thereby moving better communication, cooperation and effectiveness in the work processes.” That she succeeded is proven by the consistently positive feedback at the end of the day: “I was inspired to find my common thread in life and believe in myself.” “I was encouraged that if you want to achieve something and believe strongly in it, you can do it.” “I take away from the event that I can decide on my own happiness and that I shouldn’t let myself get so down. Sure, life is not always easy, but it should be beautiful!”
The next two events of the trainee academy are already planned, the topics are “Origin and logistics of our food” and “Sustainability in the hotel”.
