And the Winner is … ULRICHSHOF

05.05.2025

Great honour for the family hotel ULRICHSHOF Nature – Family – Design in Zettisch/Municipality of Rimbach. At the Family Cup 2025 award ceremony, organised by the travel portal meinTophotel.de, the hotel was presented with the coveted award in the ‘Overall Concept’ category. The prize was accepted by Ulrich N. Brandl, owner of the ULRICHSHOF, and Michaela Lankes, member of the management team and responsible for the interior design.

The event took place in the festively decorated ‘Das Kaps’ in the Schlosshotel Kitzbühel. BR presenter Michael Sporer hosted the evening and the trophy was presented by Jaqueline Schaffrath, Head of Mein Tophotel. Family hotels in German-speaking countries were honoured in the five categories of cuisine, leisure programme, family wellness, accommodation and overall concept. The selection is made by an expert jury consisting of renowned journalists, industry experts and the editorial team of the trade magazine Tophotel – on the basis of personal on-site visits.

A special moment of pleasure

For Ulrich N. Brandl, the evening was more than just an awards ceremony: ‘I was particularly touched by two things that evening. When the presenter announced the nominees in the overall concept category, he said: ‘Now we’re coming to three absolute heavyweights in the industry. And then the luxury hotel Bareiss in the Black Forest, the Sonnenalp Resort in the Allgäu – and the ULRICHSHOF were named. To be mentioned in the same breath as two such renowned international top hotels was a great honour for me and gave me deep inner satisfaction.’

But the nomination was not all: ‘Standing on the stage next to these two top restaurants – and then actually winning the award – was a special moment of pleasure. For us, this is not just another award among many. Winning in the overall concept category has a very special significance for us. It shows that our claim to set standards for the perfect family holiday has been recognised and appreciated.’ The award ceremony was also very emotional for Michaela Lankes, member of the management team: ‘The moment was incredibly moving and filled me with deep pride and gratitude. It was immediately clear to me that we are all winners here – every single day at ULRICHSHOF is a personal victory for me. Just like the quote from Confucius’ eulogy: “Those who do what they love never have to work another day”. I don’t work at ULRICHSHOF – I live there, with everything that makes me who I am.’

‘Winning in the overall concept category has a very special significance for us.’

A concept that is lived

For Michaela Lankes, one thing above all is important so that the overall concept can be felt by every family in everyday life: ‘For me, authenticity comes first. What you love inspires you – and it is precisely this enthusiasm that our guests feel. It also infects our employees, who put their hearts and passion into bringing the concept to life every day. It is the people who make the ULRICHSHOF what it is: unique, great and special.’

Ulrich N. Brandl also shares this aspiration, emphasising the hotel’s clear focus: ‘We radically rethink family holidays from the children’s point of view – and never lose sight of the highest quality for the whole family. This combination of child-orientated adventure, stylish design, sustainability and genuine warmth is hard to find anywhere else.’

Design that touches

The fact that this concept not only works in terms of service, but also in terms of architecture and design, is particularly evident in Michaela Lankes’ signature style. For her, interior design is far more than just aesthetics: ‘At the ULRICHSHOF, a common thread runs through every detail. Our rooms tell stories, they convey a sense of security, joy and the feeling of having arrived.’ It is the interplay of well thought-out design, high functionality and emotional impact that makes the rooms at the ULRICHSHOF so special – for children, parents and grandparents alike.

A look into the future

The hotelier family also has a clear vision for the coming years: ‘We want to continue to set standards for the family holiday of tomorrow – with new ideas, fresh impetus and the courage to leave the beaten track.’ This includes creating innovative architecture, developing new educational concepts and consistently rethinking the understanding of service. ‘Our aim is to remain a place where every generation can find something special for themselves – and where valuable family time is created at the same time.’
